A Comparative Study of Input-Output Stability Results

July 17, 2017

A Comparative Study of Input-Output Stability Results is now available online. As a follow-up to The Extended Conic Sector Theorem, the paper shows how many input-output stability results can be linked together using the Extended Conic Sector Theorem. The goal is to help engineers who are interested in input-output stability theory choose between using passivity indices, conic sectors, gain, or other properties to characterize their systems. Jump to page 12 for Nyquist plots that visualize how tightly different properties characterize the same plant, and how much design freedom they allow when synthesizing a controller that ensures input-output stability.
